Dr Updegraff and his entire staff was amazing during the entire process! They explained every step and answered every question. I would highly recommend them to anyone interested! It was a wonderful experience!!

I was a -7.0, -5.75 and not tolerating contacts anymore (after 25 years) and glasses made me feel like I was in a fog.I am now 6 weeks post Lasik surgery and still recovering. I researched the best surgeon to go to in the area and Dr. Updegraff is the one. I read his entire website and scheduled the consult (~3 hours long). I have blue eyes and my eyes stayed dilated for ~48 hours. I was a little surprised I did not meet Dr.Updegraff until right before my surgery and that was the only time I saw him. The surgery itself was quick and fine. I expected the discomfort 24-48 hours post, but I also did not have perfect vision immediately.Week 1- I had a light sensitivity to the point I did not go outside for 3-4 days and wore sun glasses inside. I could make out the letters on the eye test but it was very hazy. I work in a hospital (bright lights and computers) which I was unable to fully function at.Week 2- Still hazy, uncomfortable looking at computers, tv, or reading for more than a few min. I had to go on FMLA, which was totally unexpected since most people go back to normal activity in 48 hours.Week 3- Dr. Behn put me on some steroid drops for inflammation. He said that the light reflecting off the cornea with this inflammation was causing the haziness. After 2 weeks post-op he said it was ok to get a little more aggressive with the drops. I was also on an NSAID drop. I was able to function better half-way through.Week 4- Still needing frequent computer breaks. Tolerating being outside with sun glasses.Week 5-6: I notice slight changes week to week of improvement. Most of the time I dont have an issue, just tiny font and things too far away are still tough to read.I will say Dr. Behn and the Updegraff staff have been amazing. I am just one of the people who has taken longer to heal, but I can finally see the results. I made appointments with him every 4 days at the beginning. Dr. Behn explains everything in detail and let me ask all my questions. I was nervous it didnt work for a while. He assured me there was nothing I did wrong, it was not that the surgery went wrong, I was just a slow healer and there was absolutely no way we could have predicted this.If I could do it again, I would have taken a week off from work to heal. If you end up not needing the time then awesome. I feel like there are a lot of stories out there where people saw perfect the next day and those who it totally didnt work for and they need glasses. I am somewhere in the middle.

From the initial consultation to post-operative visit, I am beyond impressed with this practices level of organization, patience, and friendliness. They are so thorough, at every point I was asked if I had any questions, leaving no mystery about the procedure. I never felt rushed or pressured. As someone who struggles with anxiety I was nervous leading up to the surgery, but once I arrived I was cared for at every turn. I was able to relax in the pre-operative room where I was given some medicine, could listen to music and chill in a recliner. When it was time for surgery Dr. Updegraff explained every step of the procedure while an assistant held my hands. My partner was able to watch the surgery in a private suite. I wasnt nervous at all (the Valium helped) and found the LASIK procedure to be entirely pain-free and fast. I experienced only slight discomfort afterwards, but the pain was completely gone when I woke up from a nap later that day, at which point I woke up with perfect vision. Incredible. Im almost in tears writing this review because Im so grateful to see clearly. Thank you, Dr. Updegraff and team. I will recommend you to friends and family.

On March 2, 2018 I had Lasik Surgery done. For over 30 years I wore prescription glasses for everything I did. After so many years of dealing with prescription changes, glasses fogging up, breaking, and losing them, Ive finally had it! I was so frustrated with with having to depend on them and began to research the pros and cons of Lasik, as well as the doctors who performed the procedure. I found that Lasik eye surgery facilities were everywhere so to speak, but experienced and highly knowledgeable doctors were not. Then I was referred by a co worker to look into (no pun intended) Dr. Updegraff. My friend had told me she had the procedure done by him and was completely overwhelmed by her results. I set my fears aside and made an appointment for the free eye examination consult with Dr. Updegraffs office. Once there I was placed through a battery of eye tests by the doctors highly professional and educated staff. The complete consult took approximately 2 1/2 hours and found that I was a -3.50 in one eye and -2.50 in the other. I also was found to have astigmatism in both eyes and needed to be treated for myopia. I was reassured by the doctor and staff that being an eligible candidate for the surgery, I would be completely satisfied with the outcome and free of my glasses. My research was complete and my decision was made, I decided to go forward and do it.On March 2nd I went in for surgery at 7:30 am. I checked in and met with Dr. Updegraff again. We went over what to expect during the procedure again and he reassured me that I was in good hands. During the surgery I was fully awake and Dr. Updegraff was giving me a play by play of everything he was doing as well as what I would be feeling. The complete procedure took approximately 20 minutes and was pain free. The results were absolutely amazing! I immediately noticed the difference in clarity right after the surgery. I was given the aftercare instruction by the nurses and sent home. After resting for 5 hours with my eyes closed, I woke up. I looked outside and was overwhelmed of how much everything was brighter, colorful and so much more detailed! I could actually see all of the address numbers on my neighbors houses and their license plate numbers, without glasses! I thought all this happening and it was literally hours after having the procedure completed. Now its been a few days later and the results are even better now for me. Yes, I now wear reading glasses for that purpose only, which was going to happen anyway being 50 years of age. However, I can see perfectly long distance, make out faces in a crowd and enjoy all activities without wearing those damn glasses. After going to my post op check up I was found to have 20/20 vision and see better than Ive ever before!If you are pondering the thought of getting Lasik, I highly recommend going to see Dr. Updegraff and his staff. I would highly recommend him to my friends and family. Dr. Updegraff and staff, thank you all again for giving me my freedom of sight back to me.
