Went for my three month checkup today after having LASIK and I can see better than 20/20! I wish I would have done this much sooner. The entire staff from the people who answer the phones, to the techs, to Dr. Updegraff himself are all friendly and professional. Not one of them had anything other than a positive attitude. The only problem I had was an allergic reaction to the paper tape they used on the eye shields, and Dr. Updegraff gave me free medication samples of a cream to clear up the redness. I could tell he was also personally upset by it and he mentioned he bought that kind of tape because it was supposed to be hypoallergenic. To be fair, I suffer from pretty bad allergies. I didn't care about red skin; I just wanted to be able to see!I got two year financing at 0% interest which made my payment about $200 per month. Very affordable, and they will definitely work with you on that. The price is all-inclusive. You get the top technology, all the medicines and accessories you need for the recovery period, and they also throw in stuff like lip balm, a free pair of sunglasses (nice ones you get to pick out), and a flash drive with a recording of your surgery. I haven't been brave enough to watch it yet!I was pretty myopic with a prescription in the -7.0 to -8.0 range. I had worn a combination of glasses (since I was nine) and rigid gas permeable contact lenses (since I was twelve). I am thirty-seven now and gardening is going to be so much easier without getting dirt in my contacts! The recovery time was very brief. I was watching football on TV the same evening I had the surgery and I could read all the stats. I waited about three days to drive, but that was more about making myself comfortable. I'm not having halos or glares or anything else I'm not supposed to be seeing. Be sure and check out the website before you go - the FAQ section probably has everything you want to know, but if it doesn't, the staff is happy to answer any of your questions. My mom took me for the surgery and they answered all her questions, too!

5 stars. I've been thinking about Lasik since i saw the commercial when i was about 18 years old and had to wear glasses. Now at 23 and after many problems with glasses and not being able to see very well without them, i.e my lenses fall off while i'm driving, my glasses fall off my face at work when i bend down, I take my glasses off to play a sport like volleyball and i can't even see the ball until its nearly in my face, etc. I vowed to get Lasik after my glasses broke in the middle of my shift while i was driving a big rig in Downtown Los angeles and had to park the rig on the side of the highway and walk 5 miles to a watch repair place that said they could sodder my glasses back together. Since the bridge completely broke, I had no way to tape them back together and that was one of the worst experiences i've ever had, amongst many with glasses. I had the operation yesterday and i already have 20/20 vision and on the way home from my second day check in. i could actually read all the street signs and businesses and billboards from very far away. I'm literally seeing better than i ever saw with glasses and i'm so thankful to everyone at Updegraff. They were very professional, knowledgeable, friendly and fast. If you watch youtube videos the procedure seems scary and overwhelming but honestly they give you a diazepam aka generic valium before the operation and give you numbing drops before the operation. The procedure was painless. it was a little like Sci-Fi movie. I saw all different kinds of colors and bright lights, had very little discomfort and it was over before i knew it. I went home and my right eye hurt for a little while, They told me to sleep but i couldn't so i just laid in bed listening to audio books for 4-6 hours so my eye could heal, then i woke up and took my protective shields off my face and used some some flarex they gave me and felt good as new. The 6 hours of discomfort was a small price to pay for seeing this well and looking great without and feeling confident without my glasses. Thank you, Dr. Updegraff, for the gift of sight without glasses! I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Updegraff and his staff. Simply the best! From the small details of wiping down the machines in front of the patient (so we know it is clean), to the hand-holder during surgery, the whole experience is pleasant (even though it's not something you want to do!)He has a busy practice, yet takes the time to get to know each person and makes you feel like you're not just a commodity. He delights in restoring vision. When I had my cataract surgery this week, there was a gentleman from New Orleans who had traveled here just so Dr. Updegraff could do the surgery with the new Simfony lenses (which are so amazing - you can now have both distance and near vision, and it cures presbyopia!). I'm still adjusting because my old prescription was so strong, and magnified everything...but I am ecstatic so far!The procedure itself is really painless. And it's over in just a few minutes. The after-care is a drag, but hey, it's worth it to have 20/25 vision after a lifetime of 20/200. Wow!

God bless Dr. Updegraff and his staff! I just had cataract surgery with the new Simfony lenses - I'm still adjusting to them, but so far I am thrilled. I've had a very strong prescription for most of my life. I now have 20/25 vision, and Dr. Updegraff says it will only get better in time. He is just amazing. I don't know how he does it - he has so many patients, but he remembered me after a year went by before I decided to go through with the surgery. I know he wasn't faking because he mentioned a detail from our previous visit. I doubt that detail was in the record. Anyway, the staff works like a well-oiled machine. Everything runs so smoothly. The procedure takes just a few minutes, and you won't feel a thing. Dr. Updegraff has a soothing voice, and his assistant holds your hand and counts down the seconds so you know when it's going to end. The best part of this is, I don't need glasses, and I have complete peripheral vision from not having the glasses. The worst part? I still have the haloes around lights in the evening. I am hoping this will correct itself - but Dr. Updegraff said that laser surgery is included if he needs to tweak the vision later. Dr. Updegraff clearly cares about his patients, and is delighted to bring them the gift of sight. People come from all over the country to have him operate on their eyes. The day I was there, a gentleman had come from New Orleans. I cannot recommend Dr. Updegraff any more highly.
