Heeral Shah, M.D., a native of Missouri and third-generation ophthalmologist, earned her B.S. and medical degree at the University of Missouri School of Medicine. After completing an internship in internal medicine at MacNeal Hospital, an affiliate of the University of Chicago, she received her ophthalmology residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas. Dr. Shah then went on to complete fellowship training in medical retina at the New England Eye Center at the Tufts University School of Medicine.
Dr. Shah was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society in 2004, and is a member of the American Medical Association and the Florida Medical Association. She has received several awards and honors during her career, such as the American Women’s Medical Association Glasgow-Rubin Certificate of Commendation. Her research has appeared in publications including Ophthalmology, the European Journal of Ophthalmology, and the British Journal of Ophthalmology.
Dr. Shah is skilled in treating diseases of the retina, including age-related macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, and retinopathy of prematurity. She also provides general ophthalmologic care, including cataract surgery and treatments for glaucoma and other disorders. |
